Victor Peña has over thirty years of experience in financial and administrative management, controllership, financial planning, treasury, supply chain, and information technology. He is an experienced executive with a broad business background having worked in the electric and gas utility industry, with multinational consumer goods companies, as well as in the oil and gas business, both domestically and internationally. He is a business leader with a proven track record and tangible achievements in developing and implementing corporate strategy, financial systems accounting controls, creating shareholder value, motivating and mentoring individuals and teams, and executing corporate transformation and renewal initiatives.
Key career highlights include: executive in charge of corporate-wide process improvement initiative, with annual on-going cost improvements of $40-50 million; diversity initiative leader of corporate-wide diversity programs; leader of financial systems and procedures initiative, improving financial reporting, quality, timeliness, and accuracy; implementation of corporate-wide metrics (KSIs – Key Success Indicators), resulting in improved accountability on the key factors – operating, financial, and administrative; leading a strategic planning process clarifying corporate direction and resource allocation, and obtaining employee buy-in.
Victor holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (B.B.A.) from the University of Georgia, graduating cum laude and with General Honors. He completed one year of the M.B.A. program in International Business at the University of Miami and has attended the EEI Executive Program at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration of the University of Virginia, the Director Training & Certification Program in the Anderson School of Management at UCLA, and continuing education courses including FASB, GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, Utility Management, Financial Management, Tax, Managerial Skills, Shareholder Value, Strategic Planning and Workforce Diversity.
Victor is a Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), since December 1982. He has served on the boards of The Salvation Army, Las Vegas, NV, Executive Committee; and The American Heart Association, Reno and Las Vegas, NV, Fund raising Committee. Victor is a member of the Latin Chamber of Commerce of Southern Nevada.
Victor was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and immigrated to the United States in 1959. He is fully bi-lingual (English, Spanish), as well as having a working level knowledge of Portuguese and French. Victor and his wife, Clara, have lived and worked in Europe, The Far East and Latin America, and currently reside in Las Vegas, Nevada.
